When I met Robert, my Sasha family had but 8 members, who you've already met and seen photos of if you read Meet My Family Part I.. Once I removed my dolls from their boxes over the last 2 years, I've 're-connected' with these wonderful dolls on a very different level.... My little 'family' has expanded considerably and I'd like you to meet my newest 'children'!
I am very proud and excited to announce the long awaited addition of a very handsome redheaded
Gregor to our family! (July, 2002)
After nearly 8 years of no Sasha 'adoptions', I now have an utterly
gorgeous redheaded Gregor! His presence helps to even out the girl to boy ratio, and he has taken on the
role of 'big brother' to the rest of the family, in addition to being Gina's 'twin'. He has travelled from MA to MO!.

Talk about when it rains it pours!!!
The absolutely charming Caleb has recently joined the family
as well! He came all the way from Virginia, and has a very interesting background ( I was told he has a
fascinating background, coming from New York originally!) Caleb came into our lives in a most
unconventional way -- I had put the word out that I would like to find a Caleb to add to my little family, ( now,
I'm thinking a year or so down the line, after all, I had just added Rhys!) Almost immediately, a Sasha group
member contacted me with the information of a friend of hers with a Caleb, a Cora, and a baby all needing
new homes! I contacted this lady in VA about the Caleb -- she specified that in exchange for a donation to
a Children's Organization, he could be mine! We worked out donation arrangements, and Caleb arrived
shortly thereafter!

My wonderful little Sasha family was definitely growing by leaps and bounds!
I decided it was time to add a baby or two, which turned into three, or four, or FIVE! Yep, before I knew it, the 'Sasha stork' had delivered FIVE little bundles of joy!
My first baby has arrived and what a cutie! I had asked the Sasha
group to help identify her from her auction photo, as her description was rather vague and nonidentifying.
Responses
were pretty much half and half: it was either a Gotz era Celina, or an 80's Trendon. I can easily see how
the two could be confused -- both dressed identically, same colorings, same little 'teddy bear' even! I was
totally unable to determine which one she was myself!! I suspected I would adore her, regardless .
Upon her arrival and my anxious 'unboxing' of her, I knew it didn't make any difference whether she was a Trendon OR a Gotz...I was just absolutely smitten with her! She was wearing her original little white outfit, with her jaunty little hat perched on top of her sweet little head, and I started thinking that she looked, well, she looked FRENCH! Next thing I know, I started singing 'Every little breeeeze seems to whisper Louise!!.. So now, THIS is Baby Louise! or, Baby Lou as I call her.

About a week later, I was 'expecting' again. I noticed the mailtruck parked outside, and suddenly, one of 'THOSE' feelings
came upon me -- the feeling that a little bundle of joy was about to be delivered shortly!
I wanted to find the mailman to get my baby from him, or at least sit on the porch and wait for him...but, what if I was wrong??
but I had learned from past experience that these feelings were rarely wrong...but, nonetheless, I managed to stay inside, peeking through the curtains so I could pounce on my box the moment it arrived!
After what seemed an eternity, the mailman stepped up onto my porch, and then left as quickly as he had appeared...but THERE it was!! A BOX!! and it turned out to be my first baby boy, wearing striped overalls and a beautiful, happy grin!

Baby #3 has arrived! A blonde haired little angel comlete with little boy 'parts'! and dressed in his 'birthday suit'!
no box, no shoes, no clothes, no wrist tag, but he is gorgeous and his hair is the softest I have felt yet on
any doll's head! He will be 'mama's boy' for sure!

Lots of people stop at 3 babies...but not me, I was on a roll! Ebay was delightfully full of little ones, and as I long as I could find them at deliciously low prices, I was willing to be mama to a few more little ones!
My 4th little bundle is a brunette female, with 'female' anatomy! I felt quite fortunate to have not one, but TWO anatomically correct babies! She is a little ray of sunshine, and I decided to call her Elke...eventually I was able to acquire an outfit that was original to her -
|
Oops! The stork wasn't QUITE finished!! My FIFTH baby is truly a treasure! -- another Ebay baby - with 'female gender specifications', dressed in her original 2 pc white outfit, I have named her Sophie, which means 'wisdom'!
|
**NOTE: I have been asked by several people what the anatomically correct features look like...well, the little boys look like little boys, and the little girls marking looks much like an exclamation point ! only with more space between the line and the dot..
Well, FIVE babies within less than a year really was quite a growth spurt!
My attentions turned back to the 'big kids', and Ebay as my source! lol...
I was tickled pink to have won the short haired Sasha, the ONLY short haired female in the Sasha family! This darling girl comes from Florida, and arrived on the day of Christmas Eve, 2002. She is so personable, and I know her seller was reluctant to part with her but was happy to learn she would be very well loved!

Along the Sasha path, and it's all Ebay's fault! I encountered a different breed of doll! One with long red hair and impish freckles and big round questioning eyes! I had discovered Natterers!
With much joy and glee, please meet Delaney!! Delaney is actually 'Fanouche', and was designed by Sylvia Natterer, manufactured by Gotz, as were 2 of the 3 production runs of Sasha.... Delaney is taller than Sasha, about an inch taller, so while Sashas outfits do not fit Delaney, it is nonetheless a lovely reason to create new patterns and sew Delaney her own wardrobe! I found this gorgeous imp on Ebay and absolutely just lucked out and won her!!! Isn't she a cutie!! Look for photos/scenarios with Delaney among the photos of Sasha in 'Just Being a Kid'!

Delaney
In April, 2003, after wanting a Sasha in the traditional blue and white checkered dress, I finally won this gorgeous girl on Ebay auctions! Even before she arrived, I KNEW her name -- Talia. She is about half an inch shorter than my Trendons, which leads me to beieve she is a Frido....her face is 'smaller' particularly....and the Trendon's clothes just sorta 'hang' on her, so now, in addition to making some larger garments for Delaney, I get to make some smaller ones for Talia!!
Her hair was pretty 'nasty' when she arrived, sorta matted together. but, through the modern miracle of shampoo, this little girl has some bee-yoo-tiful tresses!! Her skin is considerably darker compared to the others, and the lighter colors really look sensational on her!

In April of 2003, I was scrolling through Ebay auctions, looking at the Natterer dolls, and one of the dolls caught my eye...I ended up emailing the seller, a doll shop on the East Coast, and they emailed pix of 2 other Natterers they had for sell.. I was charmed by one with looong blonde hair and braids and decided I MUST have her!! Her original name was 'Ellen', however I felt that 'Carly' suited her a little better. She was actually named Carly for my friend Carly, who lives in Italy.
**Confession time: I lopped off about 3" of Carly's hair...it was simply too long and kept tangling...***

Carly
Well, in the merry merry month of June, 2003, my little family has reached it's 'legal' limits!! that is to say, they number 21!! Our newest member is another boy -- another blonde haired Gregor, although Trendon, not Frido this time! He arrived in his original outfit, and yes, he's an Ebay win as are most of my kids!!
|
I had decided that I wanted to have one of every Sasha and Gregor made...with no repeats of their original outfits...and found this somewhat different looking Sasha on Ebay wearing her orginal red smocked dress. She hails from Canada!
|
Er, ah, make that 22!! Finally, a Sasha long dress (from Indiana) is part of our family! Isn't she gorgeous?!?!
I trimmed her hair -- it was VERY much needed as it was a bit of a mess when she arrived.!
This little Sasha girl also had a problem that I had not encountered before -- her torso is cracked...the crack is only about a half an inch long and is directly under her left arm. Having never done any 'surgery' on my Sashas, I was hesitant to disturb anything...it's not noticeable, given the location...but the fact that she did have that flaw was what made me feel she was 'fair game' to alter in other ways...so I pierced her ears! And she is one of my prettiest Sashas of all! She was referred to as Sasha Long Dress.

August, 2003, and we welcome another wonderful boy into the family! This little guy came from Wichita, Kansas! (but NOT by tornado although he HAS taken us by storm! lol)
He's a sweetie pie and is called Gregor Dark Sport.
|
This adorable curly haired boy is 'New York', another Natterer, renamed 'Gordy'. He was a birthday gift from Lorinda, a very special
friend in Idaho (Lorinda!).

Gordy
'New York'
There was a darling Natterer girl I had seen photos of, and instantly had decided she belonged in my little family....I searched high and low for her, and was ready to think she had only been a figment of my imagination! And then Gotz was closing, ceasing production and just shutting down...and, like so many other doll lovers, figured that's it, I'll NEVER find her now!
Not long after, I logged onto ebay, and guess what I found?? Yup...AMANDA! and nobody else had bid on her at ALL!! I thought, if THIS isn't meant to be, I sure don't know what IS! lol....
 |
The day that Amanda arrived in the mail, I was rushing around trying to get out of the house to a dental appointment. I was slowed down when the doorbell rang...it was the mailman with a big box for me! My housemate, who was driving me to my appointment, hollered LET'S GO! Well, I brought Amanda WITH me to the Dentist's office! The entire staff as well as my dentist thought she was just wonderful! (Of COURSE I took her in with me! lol)
And, I must admit that is IS lots of fun to see the varied reactions to whichever doll I have with me....I have found it usualy puts a little 'twinkle' in everyone's eye to see and hold a pretty doll!
Still wanting to own one of each of the Sasha's, but realizing I may have to settle for just one of each production run, this final production Gotz Sasha, named Sophie, (renamed Jolie) popped on ebay one day....She came to me all the way from Canada! She is my only female from the final production period of Sasha dolls, and is considerably smaller than the Trendon era dolls. (I am still hoping to find a Gregor from the final Gotz run. I do have a toddler already from that production).

(Still need to photograph these kids!)
Jordan - toddler from final Gotz production era.
Leah - Natterer (Carly's brunette counterpart!)
Like - Gotz Asian baby
NOTE: As of Judy's passing away on Aug.13, 2005, there were 6 more Sashas that needed their
pictures taken
and posted - Aaron, Dmitiri, Aubreigh, Chianna, Corina and Noelle.
I would like to add that I collect all my dolls for fun and personal enjoyment only. By no means am I any kind of an 'expert' on the subject; I only know I love them dearly & enjoy sewing for them!
Dorisanne Osborn, author of 'Sasha - Through the Years', has written a most wonderful book containing pictorial accounts of the dolls, body styles, hair styles, stringing, shoes, etc. through the years.
It should be in every Sasha lover and collector's library!
If you return to the Directory, you will find a Sasha History page -- at the bottom of that page you will find ordering information not only for Dorisanne's book, but for 2 other fantastic books about Sasha as well.
Please do stop by again - this site is always growing and changing!
